Job description
In our connected world, cybersecurity is crucial. The Cybersecurity (CYS) group takes a data-driven approach to protecting and improving the security and privacy of our society's digital transformation. We work on the following topics: Systems Security, Network and Internet Security, Web Security and Privacy, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Privacy-Enhancing Technologies, and the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.
As our scope expands rapidly, the Cybersecurity Group (CYS) at TU Delft Computer Science Department has an opening at the Assistant Professor level. For exceptional senior candidates the position can be at the Associate Professor level.
At CYS you will join a team of eight faculty members (Assistant, Associate and Full professors), more than twenty PhD students, around eight senior researchers and postdocs, and a technical and administration support team. In our research group you will get all the support, training and coaching you need to grow your career to Associate and Full Professor and contribute to our organization. We work closely with research partners in the Netherlands and abroad, including government authorities, universities, research centres and the industry. You will teach and supervise Bachelor, Master, and PhD students in Computer Science programs. In addition, you will play an active role in the cybersecurity scientific community by publishing impactful papers and transferring knowledge.

The candidate should have:
- PhD in Computer Science or a related subject at the time of the appointment.
- Excellent portfolio of publications in Cybersecurity and related venues.
- Excellent command of English, as TU Delft is an international community.
- Teaching and student mentoring experience, and acquisition of research funding are a plus for the Assistant Professor level and expected for the Associate Professor level.
The candidate should demonstrate research expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Software Security,
- Reverse Engineering for Cybersecurity,
- Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity,
- Online Security and Privacy.

Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) brings together three scientific disciplines. Combined, they reinforce each other and are the driving force behind the technology we all use in our daily lives. Technology such as the electricity grid, which our faculty is helping to make completely sustainable and future-proof. At the same time, we are developing the chips and sensors of the future, whilst also setting the foundations for the software technologies to run on this new generation of equipment – which of course includes AI. Meanwhile we are pushing the limits of applied mathematics, for example mapping out disease processes using single cell data, and using mathematics to simulate gigantic ash plumes after a volcanic eruption. In other words: there is plenty of room at the faculty for ground-breaking research. We educate innovative engineers and have excellent labs and facilities that underline our strong international position. Conditions of employment
The position is at the level of assistant professor (Academic Career Track) or associate professor, depending on background, experience and leadership (potential).
Assistant Professor
During the Academic Career Track, we expect you to grow towards an Associate Professor position within a maximum of eight years, for which a position will be available. With other Academic Career Track colleagues, you will participate in the Academic Career Track Development programme, where you are offered ample opportunities to develop yourself in the areas of Education, Research, Societal Impact & Innovation, and Leadership & Organisation. You will regularly discuss your development and results with senior staff based on a personalized development and performance criteria agreed upon at the start of your Academic Career Track. You will start with a temporary contract that will be converted to a permanent contract no later than 12 -18 months after a positive evaluation, based on continuous confidence in your development potential and fit in the organisation.
Salary scale 11-12: €4.537,-- to € 7.056,-- per month gross.
Associate Professor
For an Associate Professor position, we offer an initial temporary position with the prospect of a permanent contract. The duration of the temporary position is a maximum of 1 year. After a positive performance assessment, you will be employed in a permanent Associate Professor position.
Salary scale 13-14: € 6.286,-- to € 8.405,-- per month gross.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities, plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%. Besides the salary, TU Delft offers the following:
