DevOps Engineer Infrastructure

Are you a DevOps Engineer with a passion for networks and infrastructure? Do you want to work in a high-tech environment where research, innovation and education come together? Then we are looking for you!

Job description

Help keep education and research continuously connected. As a DevOps Engineer Network Infrastructure, you automate critical network services, strengthen digital security, and help build a campus where reliability and innovation go hand in hand.

At Delft University of Technology, we work on tomorrow’s technologies: from quantum internet and robotics to groundbreaking scientific research. This requires a network infrastructure that is secure, scalable and always available. The Shared Service Center ICT forms the university’s digital backbone and supports thousands of students, researchers and staff every day.

As a DevOps Engineer Network Infrastructure, you work in a multidisciplinary team responsible for a stable and future-proof campus network environment. You design, manage and automate network services, ensuring that manual administration is increasingly replaced by Infrastructure as Code and GitOps principles.

You develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments and automate processes related to network management, firewalling, segmentation, monitoring and capacity management. In doing so, you work on solutions that directly contribute to the continuity, security and performance of the digital infrastructure.

You collaborate closely with colleagues from cloud, security and compute teams, and actively contribute to architectural decisions and technological innovation. Within the ICT department, you are given the space to help shape technical direction, take ownership and implement structural improvements.

In addition to this vacancy, we are also recruiting for a DevOps Engineer Platform Engineering role. If your expertise is more focused on virtualisation, storage and container platforms, we also encourage you to explore that position.

Requirements

  • You have demonstrable experience with Infrastructure as Code, for example using Terraform, Ansible, Git or NetBox.
  • You have experience with automation and scripting, for example in Python or Bash.
  • You have proven knowledge of networking and network management in complex infrastructures.
  • You have experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments.
  • You have experience with monitoring tools, such as Nagios or similar solutions.
  • You have knowledge of network segmentation, firewalling and security best practices.
  • You work in a structured way, take ownership, and can clearly explain technical decisions.
  • Certifications such as CCNP or CCIE are considered a plus

University Corporate Office – ICT

At the ICT Directorate, we work with approximately 200 colleagues divided into several teams: Shared Service Centre, Project Management Services, Information Management, Security, Privacy & Architecture and Innovation.

We, as the ICT Directorate, work on a variety of projects, together with the faculties and other directorates of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). We often work together with the specialists in our own ICT department and with our colleagues spread across the university. The campus is a vibrant environment that buzzes with activity. The culture is informal and inclusive. There is room for a casual chat at the coffee machine and, if you like, you can participate in various activities organised on campus. Moreover, within the ICT directorate, you will be given the trust and freedom to manage your own work. There are many possibilities in terms of training and we consider your personal development to be very important.
