Product Designer and UX Researcher

We are seeking a creative UX Designer to join our team and enhance the usability, engagement, and interface of our university’s institutional repository. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how students, researchers, and staff interact with a core service for TU Delft.

Job description

The successful candidate will lead the design and development of intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging user experiences that support the discovery, submission, and management of scholarly content - such as doctoral theses, research articles and conference proceedings. You will collaborate closely with both library staff and users throughout the university to understand needs, identify pain points, and translate insights into elegant design solutions.

Key responsibilities include conducting user research and usability testing, creating wireframes and prototypes, and developing design systems that align with the current look and feel of the repository. You will also participate in decision-making about the product design of the repository and help with the prioritisation of features.

You will be part of the Research Infrastructure team, reporting to the Coordinator of the team. Your day-to-day work will also be with the developers and repository manager in the team. You will also work with other library staff in other teams - in particular with teams who manage educational and heritage content. You will also help other digital services in the library on an occasional basis.

We are looking for someone with a strong portfolio demonstrating experience in UX design, preferably with experience in academic, cultural, or public sector environments. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on scholarly communication. If you are passionate about designing inclusive digital experiences and enjoy working in collaborative, mission-driven environments, we’d love to hear from you.
