Website Developer for AGILE Project 1

Job description 

Increasingly extreme disasters disrupt our societies. The EU-H2020 AGILE project (https://www.project-agile.eu/) is developing a global reference library of High Impact Low Probability (HILP) events such as extreme heatwaves, major storms or earthquakes. This online resource will support disaster and emergency professionals with historical data and comparative analyses to improve preparedness and resilience worldwide.


We are looking to hire a website developer to support the design and development of an interactive online reference library with the following features:

  • User log-ins and role-based access.
  • Upload and scraping capabilities.
  • Visualization tools and dashboards for comparison.
  • Integration of existing datasets into a user-friendly interface.


You will have the opportunity to interact with academic and non-academic partners in the AGILE consortium to ensure the platform makes an impact for practice and policy. If desired, you can contribute to academic publications about the reference library and findings.  

Job requirements 

  • You have experience in web development and dashboard design (e.g., using Python, R, Shiny, React, Flourish, or similar).
  • You have a strong sense of UX/UI.
  • You are familiar with data visualization and system integration.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You like working on impact-driven projects and you succeed in meeting deadlines.
  • You thrive in an interdisciplinary team and enjoy academic environments.

Faculty Technology, Policy and Management

The Faculty of TPM provides an important contribution to solving complex technical-social issues, such as energy transition, mobility, digitalisation, water management and (cyber) security. TPM does this with its excellent education and research at the intersection of technology, society and policy. We combine insights from both engineering and social sciences as well as the humanities. TPM develops robust models and designs, is internationally oriented and has an extensive network of knowledge institutions, companies, social organisations and governments.

Conditions of employment 

  • Duration of contract is 16 months Temporary
  • A job of 36-40 hours per week. 
  • A salary based on Schaal 08 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a salary between €3218 - €4298 gross per month based on a fulltime contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.  
  • An excellent pension scheme via the ABP.

Additional information
You will be directly supervised by Prof. Tina Comes and Dr. Nazli Aydin, and work in a team with Dr. Arka Bhattacharyya, and you will become a member of the AGILE project consortium with direct access and interactions to a broad range of stakeholders.
